Back to School

Quick entry...I hope.  Today was shopping for new clothes.  Although with my financial situation, I really shouldn't have been shopping for clothes.  I return to work next week.  Most of my clothes don't fit well.  I have been fairly inconsistant with my jogging, but I have been jog somewhat.  Enough to lose a few pounds.  Up until today, I only had one pair of pants with a 34in waist.  I have a couple of 36in waist pants, but they are becoming increasingly too loose.  My belts were also for a larger me.  Now, I have some comfortable clothes for the new year.  As for shoes, I'm going to have to stick with the ones I have for now.  As with previous summers, I mostly slept this one away.  My only saving grace was that I did run from time to time.

I attached a photo of my purchases.  In total, I spent $244.95 for the clothes you see. Most (if not all) of the items shown were clearance sale or deeply discounted.

Gotta go.  Considering the junkfood I ate at the mall today, I do need to run tomorrow.  I also have to retrain myself to running in the morning before work.  Now, my goal is to drop to a size 32 waist by the end of this year.  I would like to use my Holiday Club savings for a Kindle and a couple of size 32in waist pants.

Back to School Shopping (Part 1)

Well, my vacation is just about over.   As usual, I didn't do anything I had planned to do during my time off.  A part of me is looking forward to returning to work....a part.  : )

Today I finally got around to cleaning my living room floor.   I finally swept, washed, and waxed the middle part of the floor.  Now, I just have to do the hallway floor.  I also have to put up the new shower curtains, then my apartment is as clean as it is going to get until next summer.  I am happy that I will be starting the school year with a (relatively) clean apartment.

I was just transferring the photo of my back to school shopping trip purchases when I came across photos of my apartment taken July 5, 2010 (the start of this summer).  If I get around to it, I might do a before and after series for the different rooms of my apartment.  Now that it's clean, I don't mind.  Hopefully, I'll never let it get that bad again.  I hope.

Anyway, I went shopping for some back to school materials.  Usually, I go to a store in Brooklyn, but I discovered that a larger store is located near me.  It turns out the travel time to the teacher supply store near me is about an hour one-way on public transportation (not including waiting time).  The store in Brooklyn is about 2 hours one-way on the subway.

So, was I able to show some self-control with shopping?  A little.....very little.  I ended up spending $380.07 on teaching materials, classroom supplies, and bulletin board decorations.

I settled on attaching a photo of the books I purchased at the teacher's store.  I'll save the "messy room" photos for another time.

Back at Work

I've been back at work since Monday. I came in with a plan for getting organized. However, you know me and my plans(not worth the paper I haven't written on). I'm going to try to keep this short so that I can call it a night.

Strange brews. Sorry, a couple of work related things I was going to write about, but I'm trying to not bring work too much into my blog.

Back to my boring life. My new plan was to use the next couple of weeks to try to get organized so that I could start exercising with a monthly membership to the boxing gym I mentioned a couple of blog entries ago. My new plan was to leave school about 4:30PM. Getting home about 5:30PM, I would allow myself one hour of apartment cleaning and one hour of school prep work. Then, about 30 minutes on my rowing machine. I also would stop buying those school lunches that were "not as healthy as others". Results?

On Monday, I did manage to get home about 5:30PM. And, I almost followed my new plan, but writing emails to parents ruined the mood. On Tuesday, the students book order arrived and before I realized it, I was leaving school about 8:10PM. I had to stop off to buying some clogged drain formula. I arrived home about 9:30PM. And between trying to unclog my tub drain and "decompress" from a tiring work day, I ended up going to bed about 2AM. I was up about 6PM (4 hours of sleep). No, the drain didn't unclog. It did a little bit, but not nearly what I was expecting for pouring about a half a gallon of the drain cleaner down the drain.

Today I was tired and in a cranky mood. The four grade classes went on a trip, and Ms. Across the Hall asked if two of her students who were not going on the trip could stay with my class. She ended up sending 5 students. Yesterday, she borrowed my "emergency umbrella", but has not returned it. She also borrowed my paper cutter, but forgot to return it. Sorry, I guess I'm still in a bad mood.

Well, I better end this entry now.
