I'm loving my cell phone. The more time with it, the more it impresses me. I can't believe I waited so long to change over. AND...it is a prepaid phone. Now, each time I receive an email or text message, my phone alerts me. I also have access to the Internet along with three different Instant Messenger programs. Texting has gotten so much easier with the QWERTY keyboard. The only complaint (so far), the phone has a very low ring, but that is minor.

I never even leave my ring on. It's always on either buzz or total silence.
Usually, my phone is turned off during the work day. I like your idea about keeping the phone in "message" mode. It isn't usually necessary to get in touch with someone instantaneously at every second of the day.
