Slide Show - Salt Lake City (Temple Square Solo Walk)

There is a mistake in this slideshow. The Social Hall was not a private school for Brigham Young's children. The private school was located about a city-block away. The private school stood for about 40 years. I will post a picture I took of the plaque explaining the private school in another slideshow. Sorry for the confusion.

Looks like you had a nice day for photos.
The board of education building is not just for the whole state. I had to go there and argue with people when they lost all my paperwork the last time I renewed my license. (Their fault, but I got fined for teaching without a license!)
The Church Office Building is actually the tallest building in Utah. It must look pretty dinky to a New Yorker.
The statue of Jesus is a really good model of the famous one done by Thordvalson which is in Denmark. I've seen the original, but I like the one on Temple Square better because the white stone is more dramatic than the cream-colored stone of the original.
The Adam and Eve statue looks like "South Pacific," don't you think? It's never been my favorite.
So you heard the seagull story. Yes, it is odd that we have the seagull as a state bird in a desert, but we sure have plenty of the things around. They tend to poop on people's cars a lot. When I lived in Scotland, I liked hearing the seagulls there (a different kind of seagull of course== a bit smaller), since it reminded me of home.

Yes, I got the impression that the church building was the tallest in Salt Lake City. I didn't know it was the tallest in the state. "Dinky" wasn't a word that came to mind. I was more aware of what seemed (to me) to be symbolic of its power as it towered over anything nearby.

So, you're not a fan of the Adam and Eve statues. To be honest, I was going to write that they looked like suburbanites playing dress up, but I thought you might be offended by the comment.

I guess seagulls want to become like NYC pigeons.
